Summer Polo

Update: May 10, 2021

For Summer 2021 a five-session series of  three-day introductory water polo clinics will be offered for pre-high school aged boys and girls, both new and returning to water polo. This will be run as a fundraising event for Turlock High Water Polo and be held at THS pool in the evenings – Mon, Tue, Thur.

As for our High School Boys program, we are not able to run a combined Turlock/Pitman session. Both schools will take responsibility for this summer’s pre-season training program in preparation for the fall high school season. Your child’s high school coach will have more information on that.

The post-pandemic plan for youth water polo in Turlock is to return to the traditional club model beginning Fall 2021 (for pre-high school) and Winter 2021-22 (pre-HS and high school) and by Summer 2022 the goal is to be back to the same comprehensive club model we had in 2019 and early-2020, offering youth water polo at all levels ranging from intro clinics to trying to qualify teams for the national Junior Olympic championships. This new version of youth water polo will also hopefully include High School Girls, something we tried in our last season but did not work out.

2021 SUMMER PROGRAM

  • Pre-High School Coed Intro Clinics – 12U & 14U
  • High School Boys – 18U & 16U  (should return Winter Program ’21-’22 and Summer ’22)
  • High School Girls – 18U & 16U  (planned for Winter Program ’21-’22 and Summer ’22)
  • Junior Olympics Program  (should return Summer ’22 when JOs are in Bay Area)

TOURNAMENTS

Pre-pandemic, our 12U and 14U coed groups traveled to weekend tournament competitions in Clovis-Fresno, Stockton, Rocklin-Sac and Santa Cruz. Prior to the spring 2020 shutdown we had been preparing to attempt qualifying a 12U coed team for the USA Water Polo (USWP) summer national championships – the Junior Olympics (JOs). For this summer 2021, we are open to participation in weekend tournaments, determined by how many interested participants we have. This will unfold as different areas open up at different rates.

More to come on tournaments as we get closer to summer.
